Mangaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday, November 4 night. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Govind M Karjol, Revenue Minister R Ashok, minister Eshwarappa, and others.
The CM and the other BJP leaders are in the city to attend the BJP’s special executive meeting on November 5. The CM will inaugurate the meet at the T V Raman Pai Convention Centre at 10 AM, after which the meeting will be held at Ocean Pearl at 11.30 AM. The meeting is scheduled to go on till 7 PM PM, after which the CM will return to Bengaluru.
CM BSY was received at the airport by Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, district BJP president Sudharshan Moodbidiri, Moodbidiri MLA Umanath Kotian, Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor, and others. Police Commissioner of Mangaluru Vikas Kumar Vikash, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, MCC Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar, DCP Nattraj, and others welcomed the BJP leaders.
Speaking to the media after landing at the airport, CM BSY said that tomorrow’s meeting will focus on important issues, such as the strengthening of the party, plans for the forthcoming election etc.
“We will focus on the opinions of the leaders on organization management and important decisions regarding the strengthening of the party and its future plans will also be made,” he said, adding that the party’s aim is to win all seats in the upcoming elections.
Decisions regarding development works will also be discussed during the meeting and strategies will be made for the upcoming gram panchayat, zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat, Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, he added.
Prior to CM BSY’s arrival at the airport, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi arrived at the scene at around 6.45 pm and spoke to the media. “Opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s statement that there will be a change in Karnataka’s Chief Minister is totally wrong. As B S Yediyurappa has performed his duties well, taking the state BJP to greater heights, he will continue as the CM of Karnataka,” he said.
Regarding BJP national general secretary C T Ravi’s statement about the formulation of a law to prevent religious conversions for marriage, Prahlad Joshi defended him stating that the decision was made after many other states have decided to take measures to introduce a law in this regard.
