Mangalore : Tension prevails at Ullal area on October 18, Friday following a clash between two Sunni groups.

According to sources, the clash was between groups belonging to the SSF and the SKSSF. The incident took place when two members of the SKSSF entered the new Darga constructed  opposite the famous Ullal Darga and stabbed  two persons even as a Qazi from Kerala had arrived along with SSF members  and was offering prayers.

This led to stone pelting from the opposition group and resulted in a clash requiring police intervention. Police had to even resort to a lathi charge to quell the mob. It is learnt, several police men too were injured.

Here it is worth mentioning that there has been a dispute since long between the SKF and the SKSSF. If the Ullal Darga is under the management  of the SKSSF, the newly built Darga opposite the Ullal Darga is owned by SSF. However the SKSSF had brought about a stay to the offering of prayers in the new Darga.

More details are awaited.
