Mangaluru: MCC officials on Wednesday evicted petty shops functioning near Kankanadi. The move to clean up street vending is aimed at providing free flow of traffic.

The officials  demolished approximately seven shops,  said MCC commissioner Hephsiba Korlapati Rani to Newskarnataka.com. This eviction operation was on since Tuesday. The MCC had, on Tuesday, demolished illegal small shops along the area between State Bank and Lady Goschen hospital. Rani said she had passed orders to clean the city from illegal petty shop operators.

The crowded areas such as bus alighting point, crossing point, junction and busy places were in the list of clean-up drive to ensure free flow of pedestrians and vehicles. Shops obstacles normalcy and this has lead commissioner crack down on illegal shops.
