Mangaluru: J.R Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South constituency on Monday said that the tar road from St. Agnes College to Mallikatta Junction and between Kadri Junction and Kamadhenu Gas Agency on the Nanthoor Road will be upgraded as four-land concrete road.

After performing the ‘guddali puja’ (ground breaking ceremony) for these two works, Mr. Lobo said that both the works would be over in two months from now.
He said that the 255 metre-long road between St. Agnes College to Mallikatta Junction would be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 1.40 crore and the 240m stretch between Kadri Junction and Kamadhenu Gas Agency would be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 1.42 crore, he added.
The MLA said that there would be drains of 1.5m width on both the sides. The two works would be taken up from the funds allotted to the Mangaluru City Corporation from the State Finance Commission from 2013-14.
Later, Mr. Lobo performed guddali puja for concreting the road from Marikamba Temple to Jayashree Gate (220m) and asphalt the St. Theresa School Road to sixth cross road at Shivbhag. Both the works estimated to cost Rs 10 lakh each.
Besides, the MLA also said that the important stretch between Jyothi circle and Bunts Hostel Junction will be open for use in a week.
