Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police, on Friday, April 10, detained seven persons from Kerala for allegedly violated the norms issued by the Central and state governments by crossing the border at Talapady illegally.
According to sources in the police department, 48-year-old Yakub from Kerala, along with six of his family members, used the sea route in order to cross the Karnataka-Kerala border.
It is also alleged that one person, namely Shakir, had provided all logistical support to Yakub’s family to help them cross the border. Yakub has been accused of blatantly putting himself, his family members and the general public at risk, attracting punishment under various sections of the law.
A case has been registered at the Bajpe police station against Yakub and the six others in this regard. All the accused have been sent for a medical checkup to the Wenlock Hospital, in coordination with the health officials, sources added.
