Mangaluru: Pramod Kumar, circle inspector (CI) of Mangaluru rural police station who was in news after the arrest of an accused in 2014 Ulaibettu Case has been transferred to District Crime Records Bureau in Chamarajanagar.
The order dated January 22, signed by ADGP (administration) Praveen Sood cites public interest and administrative reasons for the transfer of the Circle Inspector.
On December 8, 2015 the cops of Mangaluru Rural police station staged a stir outside the office alleging that Pramod has been kept under suspension under the pretext of ‘leave’ for having arrested an accused in Ulaibettu clash and molestation case. The cops were joined by several organisations and locals who demanded that Pramod be sent back to duty.
While some said that Abubakker, arrested by Pramodh in connection to the case was innocent as the real culprit was someone else who had the same name, many alleged that Pramod had arrested the right man, but the accused was being shielded by a local politician.
