Mangaluru: Christian brethren observed Good Friday on April 3, the day Jesus Christ died on the Cross, by praying and fasting at all churches across the city. Special prayers were held at Milagres Church in the morning as well as in the evening.

A day before on account of Maundy Thursday, a memorable day when Jesus Christ during his Last Supper with his disciples washed their feet and kissed them, thereby setting an example of humility, love and forgiveness.
The importance of the day was commemorated in all Churches and people of all faiths gathered in large numbers to participate in the memorable service, thus preparing themselves for Christ’s Passion and Death on Good Friday following his resurrection on the Easter Sunday. Several churches memorised and meditated about the journey of Jesus from Jerusalem to Mount Calvary.
Being Good Friday, the Morning Prayer was held at several churches around the city. Good Friday mass was be held in the evening as well, which will be led by the Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza with Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Rocky Fernandes and Fr Amith Rodrigues held Good Friday service at Rosario Cathedral on Friday, April 3.
Christian brethren will observe Holy Saturday, the final day of Lent of the Holy Week tomorrow. Special prayers will be held tomorrow at various churches.
Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, will be celebrated on Sunday and a procession will be taken out at St. Philomena`s Church at 7 pm.
