Mangaluru: The Installation of Pendal ceremony ahead of the preparation for new Bishop’s Episcopal Ordination was held on Monday, August 27 at the Rosario Cathedral grounds, by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing the gathering, Kateel said that the Episcopal Ordination is a national-level event and people from the region must take part in it without any difference.
Lauding the role of the Bishop in maintaining a healthy society, the MP said that it was the Bishop who took up initiatives when the centre announced the Swachch Bharath Abhiyan. “Even when there was a breach of peace in the city in 2008, the Bishop made sure that the differences were sorted out,” Kateel said extending complete support of the central government and the local BJP MLAs for the event.
Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, who also spoke on the occasion stated that Mangaluru is known for peace and harmony and that all people must work together to build a harmonious society.
MLC Ivan D Souza, in his address, spoke about the city of Mangaluru with fondness and about the peace and harmony that prevailed in the city. He then requested the MP to extend his full support to the programme.
In his presidential address, the Bishop appreciated the goodwill of MP Nalin Kumar. “Usually, close relatives are invited for the Installation of Pendal ceremony and that is why close guests have been called today,” he added.
Co-ordinator of the programme M P Noronha, in his introductory speech, specified the importance and relevance of the historic event and added that the Episcopal Ordination is being watched by people all over the world. “The BJP is ruling at the centre and its MP Nalin Kumar has come to attend this programme to extend his and the Central government’s whole-hearted support. This step is important for this historic event in our country in order to promote harmony and goodwill,” he said.
