Bantwal: News reports with regard to a protest planned by Christian community against the recent grotto demolition incident reported at Vijayadka Church in the Bantwal taluk have been making rounds.

However, PRO of Mangalore Diocese Fr Victor Vijay Lobo has clarified that no such protest will be held on September 30.

The grotto was demolished on the night of September 27 by unidentified miscreants, who reportedly placed some idols and installed buntings in its place. Police took two people into custody on September 28, for questioning in connection with the incident and a cop was suspended for dereliction of duty on September 29.

Lobo, in his communication, has said that the law enforcing agency has done a splendid job and there is little reason for the community to stage protest.
