Child rights cultural fest in city tomorrow

Mangaluru: PADI, Mangaluru-based NGO, will organise a Child Rights Cultural Fest on Saturday, September 1 at Don Bosco hall at 10 am.

The event is being held to mark the silver jubilee of Padi-VALORED (Value Oriented Education) project, in collaboration with Education Research Centre (ERC).

U.T. Khader, Minister for Urban Development and Housing and In-charge Minister for Dakshina Kannada, will be inaugurating the programme, Dr. Kripa Alva, former president of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights will be releasing the Souvenir.

Children’s theatre groups from Kundapur, Puttur, Karkala, Belthangadi, Sullia and Bantwala will be performing theatre art, skits and dances highlighting the significance of children’s rights from 12 pm to 4 pm.

To create awareness on child rights among the masses and to create a Child-friendly Community, Child Rights Cultural groups have been formed and trained.

Padi has been organising street plays, skits and activities, in order to create awareness on child protection, implementation of child rights and related laws since past 25 years under their project known as VALORED (Value Oriented Education).
