Ullal: Pandemonium broke out in Ullal City Municipal Council on Thursday evening after BJP supporters took Revenue officer to task alleging that names of BJP voters had been deleted from the voters’ list just to make sure that the party has a setback in the elections in two wards of the CMC on February 11.
The angry BJP supporters said that 2011 voters’ list has undergone several changes all of a sudden even when only two days are left for the polls. Quantifying the same, they said that names of as many as 176 voters in Ward no – 24 and 167 in Ward no – 26 have been deleted from the list.
Revenue Officer Ramaiah Reddy was taken to task by the BJP supporters over this issue and pressurized the officer to spell out the names of the people on whose behest the changes have been made.
When the officer said that the names have been deleted on the basis of a survey conducted, the adamant crowd demanded for the details of the survey.
Soon, the matter was brought to the notice of the police as the BJP supporters demanded filing case against the Revenue Officer. The police, who tried to convince the angry protesters, finally said that they could only file a complaint with regard to the same with either the Deputy Commissioner or the Election Commission.
Soon the protesters said that Assistant Commissioner should visit the spot. After the arrival of the AC, a delegation headed by Mangaluru BJP President Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyaru met the DC and registered a complaint with regard to the same.
