CFI students lathi charged for gheraoing police station

Mangaluru: Mangaluru rural police station personnel lathi charged Campus Front of India (CFI) students who had gheraoed the station on Saturday, September 10.

According to sources, the students were protesting the arrest of a student at Srinivas College in connection to an incident of ragging.

Amin Rinshad, an activist from KFD was arrested on Friday, September 9 at Malappuram in Kerala in connection with a ragging incident which took place a month ago. A case regarding the incident was registered at Mangaluru rural police station.

The students, said to be members of CFI, gheraoed the police station. The police, who couldn’t control the situation, resorted to lathi charge.

A few students and three police personnel suffered minor injuries in the incident. The students were admitted to District Wenlock hospital.
