Bantwal: A woman suffered injuries after the  car in which she was travelling ran down a 20 ft gorge and landed in the courtyard of a house, at Chandalike on Vittal-Puttur road on Tuesday morning.

It is said that Veerakamba residents Dinesh and Savithri were traveling in a car when Dinesh, who was driving the car veered the vehicle to the extreme side to avoid hitting an auto that was plying from opposite direction.

The can ran down a gorge and hit a boulder, before slowly landing in a courtyard of a house.

However, the magnanimity of the mishap reduced many folds as the speed of the vehicle was reduced after hitting the boulder.

The car has been reduced to a mere mass of metal.
