Mangalore : The driver of a car sustained serious injuries when the over speeding vehicle went out of his control and overturned on the National Highway 66 near Baikampady bye-pass in the wee hours of July 10, Wednesday.
The injured car driver Shivaram (40) of Panambur, has been admitted to a private hospital by locals. The mishap occurred at around 5.30 am when Shivaram was on way to the market. It is learnt, he was speeding on the wrong side and applied sudden brake in order to avert collision with an oncoming vehicle resulting in the mishap. Locals said the car rolled over twice before coming to an abrupt halt. Shivaram has sustained serious injuries on his head and leg. Panambur police have registered a case.
The erratic movement of lorries on either side of the road near the Baikampady bye-pass right from early morning till late night has been posing a constant danger to other motorists. Locals also complained that the failure of the authorities concerned to look into the problem has also given scope for many accidents.
