Sullia: Close on the heels some political persons leveling allegations against the Centra Areca and Cocoa Marketing Processing and Co-operative limited of restricting quantity while purchasing areca from the growers, CAMPCO Director Krishna Prasad has said that the allegations are far from truth and politically-motivated.
He said that after November 10, the Campco had been purchasing four quintals per month and after January 12 the campco has been purchasing areca without any restrictions. The cost of the purchased areca too is being settled on the same day through cheques.
Talking about the support price, Krishna Prasad said that while the Central government has announce the same, it has sought an agreement from the state, to which the latter has not yet responded.
“Some politicians are leveling such allegations only to ruin the trust that growers have kept on the Campco,” he said adding that it was high time the state government spared thought on providing suitable support price to the growers.
