Mangaluru: A bus rammed into a shop after veering off the road at the Honnakatte junction apparently due to the mistake of a cop, who displayed the bane of the Indian bureaucracy – VIPism.

Reports say the Express bus plying from Udupi – Mangaluru rammed into a paint shop as the driver lost control of his vehicle owing to alleged sudden signal by the cop who  happened to see Dakshina Kannada district In-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai’s car plying on the highway.

To make way for him, the cop suddenly showed ‘stop’ signal to the vehicles plying towards Mangaluru. As a result, the driver of an express bus, in a bid to stop, veered his bus onto the right side and ended up ramming into a shop. The bus also hit a parked two-wheeler and a Maruti Ritz.
