Mangaluru: A person died on the spot while another was left grievously injured after a speeding bus collided with a bike here at Swaraj Maidan, Moodbirdi on Saturday. 

According to the police, the private bus (Reshma Express – KA19AA179)  – proceeding at a high speed from Mangaluru to Moodbidri – collided with a bike, which was exiting the petrol bunk near the ground, close to Alva’s Hospital, Moodbidri.

The accident claimed the life of Kusuma (39) of Mijar-Yedapadavu, who was riding pillion. Her husband Kathappa (42) sustained serious injuries and shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru, the police said.

The accident occured under Moodbidri police station limits.
