Kasargod: Normal life was hit across the state after left wing parties called for a dawn-to-dusk bundh against the central and state government’s anti-farmer policies here on April 8.

Although no violent incident was reported from anywhere in the state so far, functioning of offices and vehicular movement was affected in the state.

Except a few private vehicles, buses including KSRTC, responded to the bundh call. The bundh is being observed from 6 am to 6 pm.

All the exams which were supposed to held today, have been postponed. Security has been beefed up in the area to avoid violent incidents.

Motor labors and Fisherman’s association have supported the bundh call. Even the shop keepers extended support and no shops were open in the state. Supporters of bundh held rallies in the city.

However, passengers from long distance trains got stranded in railway stations. Those who were stranded due to lack of buses and other vehicles were dropped home through police buses.
