Mangaluru: A six-year-old boy died after being hit by an express train at a level crossing here near Jeppu Mahakalipadpu railway gate on September 23.
The deceased boy identified as Muhammed Hussain Hafil was a class 2 student of Cassia school here and had gone to a shop nearby the tracks with few others to purchase chocolate.
On their way back home, while those who accompanied Hafil had managed to cross tracks safely, he in a bid to catch up with others did not see the approaching train and was hit by it before being dragged for some distance.
Though few people who witnessed the incident immediately rushed him to a hospital he had succumbed to his wounds by then.
Hafil is the elder son of son of Anwar and Shameena, residents of Mahakalipadpu, Jeppu.
A case about the incident stands registered in railway police station here.
