Borimar Church organizes “Laudato – Si”, distributes over 500 saplings

Bantwal: St Joseph Church, Borimar, which is on the threshold of celebrating its 125th anniversary, organised “Laudato – Si” under the guidance of Pope Francis and Most Reverend Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese was organised, here on Sunday, June 30, marking the environment day.

Pastoral council vice president, Roshan Boniface Martis inaugurated the programme by presenting a sapling to the Borimar Church priest Rev Fr Gregory Pereira.

Rev Fr Pereira said, “We all must love nature. By planting a sapling and nurturing it, one can see God in it. It is the duty and responsibility of every individual to protect the nature.”

He gave a call to all the children who had gathered to plant the sapling that they had received in the church premises and nurture them.

Later, over 500 saplings were handed over to the Christian community members who had gathered from surrounding wards of the church.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Borimar Church, Lancy Pereira was also present.
