Mangaluru: Interestingly, a book titled ‘A village in South India’ throwing light on the culture and traditions of the coastal region will be released in London on January 29!

This book is authored by Adam Clapham, who is a retired documentary producer of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The book consists of 100 pages, which has 14 chapters explaining Kambala, Cockfight, Deepavali, Navarathri, Yakshagana and many more.

Adam had visited this coastal region in the year 2002. Initially, he stayed in a rented house at Hosabettu and later shifted to an old fashioned house at Katapadi in the year 2011 beside the Udyavara river. A passionate filmmaker, he has done a lot of documentaries on India.

Speaking to reporters at Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday, January 22, Adam Clapham said, “As I had heard a lot about the culture and traditions of Tulu Nadu, I preferred to stay in Mangaluru. During my stay here, I came across several salient features of Mangaluru like Kambala, cockfight, Kola and many more, which prompted me to write a book on this. I have seen the joy of people in organising various fests like Navarathri, Dasara, unique system of weddings among others, which I have documented in my book ‘A Village in South India’ which will be released at the Foyles Book Shop in London on January 29, said Adam.
