B’katte crash: Kin of brain dead victim to donate his organs

Mangaluru: One of the two youth who was injured after their two-wheeler collided with a divider has been declared brain dead. The victim’s family has decided to donate the organs.

The youth who was declared brain dead is Dheeraj (25).

The press release from the hospital stated that, “Despite all efforts to save him, the prognosis was poor and he did not show any signs of recovery. Our panel of experts conducted a battery of tests to assess whether there was any brain stem activity on him twice at 6 hours intervals. First brain dead declaration was done at 1.30 pm and second at 8.00 pm on May 30.”

“The father and relatives of the deceased have now come forward to donate his organs to save other needy patients’ life. The father of the deceased has given formal consent to donate his organs namely heart/heart valves, liver, and kidney in the presence of Jeevasarthakathe (SOTTO),” the release added.
