Kasargod :A BJP worker from Panathur has been arrested in connection with the murder of a CPM activist at Panathadi  on Sunday June 29 night.

The arrested person is Rajesh (34). Abdul Sharief,  a resident of Panathur Pariyar was  stabbed to death  following an altercation between him and Rajesh  at the local market on Sunday night.

The accused Rajesh was also injured in the tussle and was hospitalised after his arrest. The victim Sharief  was a lorry driver.

It is learnt, there was an enmity between the two ever since BJP men led by Rajesh  reportedly intercepted Sharief who was on his bike  when the  BJP was taking out a  protest march against the killing of Arun Lal, a BJP worker and autorickshaw driver, on Thursday June 26.

A bundh is being observed in Panattadi on June 30 as per the call given by the  local unit of the Communist Party.
