Mangaluru: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot opined that the Bharatiya Janata Party would secure a maximum number of seats in the Lok Sabha election- 2019 and form the government with two-third majority.
Gehlot, who was in the city for election campaigning told reporters on Tuesday, April 16, that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has received high reputation at the international level. The recent harsh and historic decision on country’s security has made the people keep their trust on Modi. Hence, people would vote for BJP candidates and elect Modi as the prime minister of the country again.”
Coming down heavily on Congress National President Rahul Gandhi, Gehlot said, ” In a bid trap BJP government in Rafale deal, Rahul Gandhi insulted the apex court by saying that the Supreme Court itself had admitted that ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ (The guard is the thief). In reality, Supreme Court did not say what Rahul had claimed, but it has said that the documents pertaining to the Rafale deal could be examined. As it is the contempt of court, Meenakshi Lekhi already moved the Supreme Court, seeking contempt action against Rahul. Rahul should seek apology not only from the court but also from the public.”
Meanwhile, Gehlot claimed that BJP is not anti-Dalit as claimed by Congress. The government did justice to Dr B R Ambedkar’s legacy by developing five important places related to his life as national monuments. Describing PM Modi as the real crusader taking forward the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, Gehlot said that BJP under PM Modi stood for Dalits and backward classes. It is only the BJP that can deliver justice to them.”
“The Congress has been safeguarding the interests of separatists in Kashmir. Kashmir is a part and parcel of our country and there is no question of entertaining the interests of separatists”, Gehlot added.
MLAs Dr. Bharath Shetty, D Vedavyas Kamath, former MLCs Monappa Bhandary and Capt. Ganesh Karnik were present.
