BJP stages stir condemning rationing of water by MCC

Mangaluru: Taps have started going dry and quick to protest against the same was the City unit of the BJP.

The Bharathiya Janatha Party of Mangaluru East and West assembly constituencies organized protest against the Congress-led Mangaluru City Corporation against the rationing of water and not providing adequate drinking water to the people in the city. The protesters gathered at Mallikatta, here on Friday, April 7 and shouted out slogans against the MCC and the Mayor.

Addressing the protest corporator Sudhir Shetty Kanur said “people in the city are suffering without adequate water. Mayor Kavitha Sanil has unilaterally called for rationing of water, without even taking the opposition into confidence. Though there is sufficient water in Thumbe vented dam compared to previous year, the rationing has left people in lurch.”

“As per the water policy, first preference should be given to provide drinking water and second priority to industries but Mayor without taking this into consideration is providing water to the industries We doubt if the Mayor has joined hands with the industries,” he said.

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary, former MLA Ygish Bhat, Nithin Kumar, Baskar Chandra Shetty were present.
