Mangaluru: Alleging that Mangaluru North MLA Moideen Bava donated note books with his pictures on them to school children in north constituency with intention of political gains, the BJP workers protested demanding the education department to withdraw the books donated.
The protest was held in front of Zilla Panchayat here on June 13.
Terming the donation of books to schools as political agenda, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that since independence Congress was involved in the politics of polarisation of caste, creed and now it had extended this even to education.
“We are not against donating books to school children but oppose the intention behind it. Being MLA since four years he hasn’t given books like this but now eyeing the coming polls he has given the books”, he alleged.
“If you distribute books without political intention, I will garland you”, Kateel dared Bava.
Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, President of Mangaluru North Constituency said that the MLA had also suggested the children not to bind the books donated. “Using the schools and children for political gains is inhuman”, he charged.
BJP leaders also asked DDPI Walter D’ Mello if he provided opportunity to use schools for politics.
BJP leader Sathyajith Surthkal, Pooja Prashanth and others were present.
