BJP MP makes controversial statements against Muslims; complaint filed

Bhatkal: Anant Kumar Dattatreya Hegde, a Member of Parliament of Uttara Kannada constituency has stated that terrorism could not be wiped out as long as Islam remained in this world.

Hegde, a leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressing a press meet in his native Sirsi said that Islam has to be eliminated form the world for global peace.

Further, he declared Bhatkal form Karnataka and Azamgarh of Uttar Pradesh as terrorism hubs of India.

He lashed out at a few politicians and media for glorifying terrorism and showing “nationalists” in bad light.

Meanwhile, Luqman Bantwal, Vice President of the DK District Youth Congress has filed a complaint against the MP in the town police station, who has stated that the comments have hurt the religious sensibilities of the Muslim community.

He has urged the police to book Hegde under IPC sections 153(A), 295(A) and 502(2) and initiate legal action against him.

Health Minister U T Khader called on Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar on Monday and urged him to suo motu take up legal proceedings against Hegde.
