Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai has come in support of his cabinet colleague K J George and said that the BJP has no right to seek his resignation in connection to DySP Ganapathi’s suicide case.
“When the CID took up Ganapathi case for investigation, George had stepped down from his position as Home minister. Later, the CID gave him clean chit in the case and then George was re-inducted into the cabinet. The BJP has no moral right to seek his resignation. There are several Union ministers in the center who have criminal cases against them. The BJP is targeting the minorities with its usual intention of creating communal divide to get political mileage,” Rai said in a press meet here on Monday, October 30.
Recalling that the BJP had rechristened CBI as ‘Congress Bureau of Investigation’ when the UPA was in power at the centre, Rai sought to known what the full form of CBI has come to being now when the BJP is in power.
“The BJP has been misusing power. It is thus that IT raids are directed towards Congress leaders sparing the BJP leaders. The BJP is as fascists in nature as Hitler himself,” he said adding that Bellary, which was taken into clutches by the Reddy brothers for illegal mining purposes, gobbling over 66 per cent of forest land during BJP rule in the state is now gradually returning to normalcy.
With regard to the ongoing Tipu Jayanthi row, Rai said that those who do not want to be a part of the celebration can freely stay out of it. “Having said that, I must emphasise that the people must be vary about the communal polarisation techniques of the BJP. Last year, one Harish Poojary lost his life in this backdrop. He was killed by the right wing assuming that he hails from minority community,” Rai warned.
