Mangalore: Bizarre writings on stones in Kolathurpadavu in Niddodi village have been found. They are assumed to be signs protesting against the Niddodi power plant project.



The setting up of 4,000-MW ultra mega power plant proposed by the central and the state governments has been controversial and opposed ever since it was proposed, However after a thousands of protests, this strange kind of agitation has come to light.
Reportedly when the women from the village when towards border areas of Niddodi to find edible leaves, they came across these strange writings.
Anxious about it, the locals instantly informed the Matrubhoomi Samrakshana Samiti members following which they came and inspected the place.
The stones were piled up with white, blue and green writing on the stones in Thenka Mijar, Badaga Mijar, and areas of Niddodi. There were signs of arrows and numbers 971, 974 etc written on these stones.
The Samiti made a query about it with the local tahsildar, the forest department and the local panchayat however nothing is known till now.
Alphonse D’Souza, president of the Samiti speaking to the media on Tuesday July 8, said that there is a lot of controversy with regard to the project among the people, and it is agitating their minds. These writings may be a part of this agitation, he assumed.
