Mangaluru: The blessing and  grand Inauguration of the newly-built Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fajir was held on Monday 15th December. Mangaluru  Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza blessed and celebrated the solemn Eucharist celebration at the newly-built Our Lady of Mercy Church at Fajir, here. The Bishop also blessed the newly-built presbytery, belfry and Church hall on this occasion.

Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul presided over the stage programme after the Eucharistic celebration at 11:30am.

Ursuline Franciscan Superior General Sr. Doreen D’Souza, Mangaluru South deanery vicar Fr. Gregory D’Souza, State Health Minister Sri U T Khader, ZP member Sri Santhosh Kumar Boliyar, Bantwal Taluk Panchayat member Smt Padmavathi Sesappa Poojary, Fajir Grama Panchayat President Florin D’Souza  were guests of honor at the inauguration.

Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul, in his presidential address praised the hard work of all the people who were involved in the Church building project and he implored God’s blessing s on all the people present.

Health Minister Sri U T Khader, appreciated  the efforts of Fajir Parish Priest Fr.Stany Pereira and the parishioners of Fajir parish and wished all the best and assured all his support.

During this function former parish priests of Fajir Church were felicitated and everyone appreciated their efforts to nourish people’s faith.

People from all faiths were present for this historic moment and they also participated in the fellowship meal. 

Eer Undara…? A Tulu drama by Ln. Devdas Kapikad was staged at 6:30pm as part of a cultural entertainment program on the occasion.

The programme was a great success, with over eight thousand people attending the historic event.
