Mangaluru: Raking up the recent Bengre attack issue, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that he suspects role of the Congress in the stone pelting incident that took place in Bengre on February 20.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, February 22, he said that since quite some time now, the Congress leaders have been stating that BJP Chief Amit Shah’s visit will spark communal discord in the region and accordingly, the BJP volunteers who were returning from Malpe after attending Shah’s programmed were attacked in Bengre. “We will not tolerate such vicious politics,” he said demanding arrest of the persons behind this episode at the earliest.
“It so seems that the Congress was baffled by the success of Shah’s events and thus tried to create commotion by staging an attack. Even women in the bus were not spared by the perpetrators,” he said adding that Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo had fueled the issue with his uncalled for remarks.
“Everyone knows that Bengre region is a safe abode for drug mafia,” he said adding that Lobo’s statements are causing more harm than good.
