Mangaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar appeared at court in Sullia on Tuesday October 5 in connection with a phone conversation case.
“When I was the energy minister, some miscreant called me on the phone and abused me,” Shivakumar told the media at the city’s international airport. A complaint had been made against him by our officers. He had even verbally abused our government officials. The court had requested that I come as a witness to testify this. Now I have obeyed the court’s order and have come to court. We are lawmakers, and of we do not abide by it what is the point?”
Protesting is our right under the democratic form of government,” he said, referring to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s detention in Uttar Pradesh. Gandhiji taught us the importance of non-violent protesting. For the past ten months, farmers have been protesting. Neither the Prime Minister nor any of the Union Government’s ministers have met with them or had any discussions with them.
“Son of Minister of Union Cabinet has killed four people by running a car over them, he alleged and lamented that no one has been arrested in this connection. The concerned minister has not resigned. Is this a government? he questioned.
