
Mangaluru: Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF), Abu Dhabi is organising its 7th mass marriage programme at Milagres Hall on February 16, at around 11 AM.
BWF President Mohammed Ali Uchil told reporters here on Wednesday, February 13 that a total of 14 pairs would tie the wedlock during the mass marriage programme. The programme will be inaugurated by Dakshina Kanada District In-charge Minister U T Khader and the marriage will be solemnised by Mangaluru Khazi Al Haj Thwaka Ahmed Musliar. Meanwhile, two achievers namely Dr. B Ahmed Haji Mohiuddin Thumbay and Dr. M S M Abdul Rasheed Zaini will be felicitated for the lifetime community services and obtaining a doctorate in philosophy respectively, he informed.
“The bride will be provided five sovereigns of gold and Rs 10,000 cash and bridegroom will be provided cash of Rs 15,000 for their marriage expenditure. The forum has already united 100 pairs in nuptial knot since its inception. Through its ‘BWF Shouchalaya Project’, it has built more than 150 toilets in the coastal region of Karnataka, irrespective of caste and religion of the beneficiaries. Distribution of wheelchairs, medical help, educational assistance to the needy students are some other charitable activities of BWF”, he informed.
Umar U H, Convener of Mass Marriage Committee informed that over 30 applications were received from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod, Shivamogga and Hassan districts. “As our selection criteria involves the couples’ age and their financial background, we had to select only 14 pairs this year for mass marriage. The remaining applicants need not be disappointed as we will help them to get married with the help of other organisations doing similar service,” he said.
BWF Vice President Mohammed Rafeeq Krishnapur, Co-ordinator Imran Ahmed Kudroli, advisers Basheer Bajpe and Haneef Ullal were present.
