Mangaluru: MLA Mohiuddin Bava is accused of using Janatha Darshan to show-off his work, instead of meeting the complaints from the public, with proper arrangements.
The programme where the public can air grievances to the elected representatives was successful in Belthangady and Bantwal. In Surathkal, however, Bava used to the platform to boast off his works rather than addressing public grievances.

Besides, most of the important ministers and government representatives were absent at the venue. Former Union minister Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the programme two hours later than scheduled, in the presence of few corporators of different wards.
Bava spoke at length about the work he has done. He got cheques for 207 persons from the Chief Minister’s fund to compensate for medical treatment, and worked with officials to issue possession certificates to 222 persons staying in Ashraya houses and Janata Colony. He continued to give details, disregarding a note by Oscar Fernandes to cut short his speech. “You need to know what your MLA has done,” Bava said, turning towards Fernandes.
Oscar Fernandes, after a brief speech, distributed a few ration cards and medical compensation cheques issued by the Chief Minister.
In addition to it, there were no counters arranged at the venue for people to submit applications seeking regularization of land under Akrama-Sakrama scheme, title deeds of sites or financial assistance under various schemes.
Later, Democratic Youth Federation of India city unit president B.K. Imtiyaz told the media that the day-long event looked like it was done by Bava only to boost his image rather than listening to the people’s grievances. Bava failed to hear any of the grievances of people from 22 wards of the corporation who had come to the programme. “We wanted to inform him about the pollution by MRPL plants. But, we could not reach him”, he said.?
