Mangaluru: In an incident that could make entire humanity hang its head in shame, a two-year-old baby girl was found in a battered and bruised state, tightly wrapped in a blanket, abandoned in a commercial complex in Bejai, on Thursday morning.
Locals who found the baby informed White Doves, who promptly rushed to the spot and rescued the baby, who has been sent to Wenlock Hospital for treatment.
Corrine Rasquinha of White Doves told newskarnataka.com that the baby girl is out of danger, but she is undergoing treatment for bruises on her head, neck and other parts of the body.
“It is evident that she was tortured before being abandoned,” she said.
However, the locals who first spotted the baby said that the intention behind wrapping her so tightly in a blanket looked as though the ones who abandoned her wanted her dead.
A medico-legal case has been filed. Efforts are on to trace the ones who have abandoned the girl.
