
Mangaluru: The conspiracy to murder Basheer was hatched from the Mangaluru District Jail itself, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T R Suresh disclosed on January 24.
The undertrail prisoners Mithun alias Kalladka Mithun, Tilak Raj Shetty of Akash Bhavan, Raju alias Rajesh (the trio is already behind the bars in other cases) with help of Anup, a resident of Akash Bhavan had conspired to murder Basheer.
“The accused who executed the murder of Basheer, had done so under the direction of Mithun Kalladka, Tilak Raj and Rajesh”, commissioner said.
Accused Anup is still at large.
There are several criminal cases against Mithun Kalladka, Tilak Raj and Rajesh.
The commissioner also asserted that Mithun Kalladaka was the reason for the recent clash in jail.
Presently, Mithun Kalladka, Tilakraj Shetty and Rajesh have been shifted to other jails in the state.
Suresh also said that he would seek body warrant against the conspirators who are presently in jail.
It may be recalled that Basheer was brutally assaulted with lethal weapons on the night of January 3 at Kottara Chowki, reportedly to avenge the death of Deepak Rao. Basheer succumbed to his injuries after four-day battle at A J Hospital here on January 7.
Later, the police had arrested Shrijith P K (25), a resident of Uppala Kasargod, Kishan Poojary (21) and Dhanush Poojary (22) of Padil, Sandesh Kotian of Manjeshwara, Lathish (24) and Pushparaj (23) of Kasargod in connection with Abdul Basheer’s murder.
