Moodbidri : Sri Charukeerthi Panditacharyavarya Swamiji of Moodbidri Jain Mutt has said that a protest will be staged on October 2 demanding a CBI probe into the burglary of treasured antique idols from the Siddantha Darshana Mandir of Moodbidri.
Speaking to reporters at the Jain Mutt here on September 24, Tuesday, the seer said though investigation into the case picked up initially with the arrest of four persons, it has slowed down later on. Strongly suspecting international hands in the case as well as the hands of some influential men, the seer alleged that all circumstantial evidences with regard to the purchase of stolen idols have been destroyed. The government should entrust the case to the CBI and see to it that the antique idols were restored, the seer demanded.
He further said the Chattisgarh Government has already favored a CBI probe and added the Karnataka Government too should make up its mind in this direction. The Jain Mutt Swamiji further said protests would be staged in all districts in the days to come.
He said around 2000 Jains are expected to take part in the Moodbidri stir. The seer also wanted to know the reasons why the investigation had failed to pick up after the arrest of the prime accused Santosh Das and Durg jeweler Rajaji Santhathi.
