Mangalore: A Mangalore-bound four-wheeler  reportedly collided with two parked two-wheelers and a barricade, which was placed on the National Highway at Maripalla, near Farangipet on Saturday, after a two-wheeler took a sudden entry onto the highway from the service road.

The police said, the driver of the Ford Figo car (KA 20 Z 89) was plying towards Mangalore. At Maripalla, a two-wheeler took a sudden entry onto the National Highway. As a result, the car driver tried to escape collision but hit the barricade which was placed on the road and two more vehicles which were parked besides the road.

However, no one was injured at the accident, police said.

We have seized the car and the driver is yet to file a complaint, the Bantwal Police said.

However, soon after the incident, DAARI, a Mangalore-based NGO took the officials of the National Highway Authority of India to task for placing a barricade on the road, which it said is prone to accidents. Ravi Bangera said, vehicles move at high pace on the national highways. Placing barricades on the road or leaving a potholes unfilled can be fatal, he said.
