Bantwal : There are all indications of the  upgradation of the Bantwal Town Municipal Council, thanks to the initiative of the local MLA and DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai. There is information that the process of  upgrading the Bantwal TMC  into a City Municipal Council, has already begun.

When Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake  had visited the  Bantwal TMC  soon after he took charge as Minister, TMC President Vasanthi had placed forth a proposal in this regard and the minister too had positively responded to the same. This had kindled hopes of people of Bantwal. However, in a sudden political move, the government had decided to first upgrade Ullal as a TMC. Later the Puttur TMC was upgraded into a CMC.

When Ramanatha Rai realised that Bantwal’s demand took the back seat, he has started mounting pressure on Sorake to upgrade Bantwal TMC. Rai who has held talks with Sorake on the issue recently even  convened a meeting of al Congress members of TMC. Rai has  directed the TMC Chairperson to ensure that the TMC passed a resolution in this regard so that the same could be sent to the government.
