Bandh effect: Youth stabbed, cop injured in Puttur

Puttur: The dawn-to-dusk bandh called rightwing outfits turned violent as a youth was stabbed in Golithottu. In another incident, a cop was injured after miscreants pelted stones in Savanur.

A 21-year-old named Mohammad Harris was riding pillion on a friend’s motorcycle after offering Friday prayer at a local mosque. Two men approached him on another motorcycle and stabbed him, sources claimed. Haris was rushed to a hospital.

In another incident reported from Savanur, a shop-keeper refused to close shop which irked a communal outfit. It is said that members of the outfit started pelting stones at the shop. When police resorted to lathi-charge, the angry mob pelted stones at the police injuring SI Ravi.

As a precautionary measure, the DC has ordered continuation of Section 144 on November 14.
