Mangaluru: Mangaluru South constituency MLA J.R Lobo on Monday said that the State Government has permitted to name the road from Karavali Circle at Bendoorwell (Hotel Maya International Stretch) to Balmatta (near DC’s residence) as ‘Blasius M. D’Souza road’.

Mr. Lobo told reporters here that the Deputy Commissioner had issued an appeal, which was discussed in the council meeting of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on June, 2009. The same was published in the Kannada newspaper. Later, the decision was forwarded to the State Government, which was approved on February 2, 2015, he said.

The MLA also mentioned that Blasius D’Souza was known for social service for many years. He served as councilor between 1962 to 1979 and was elected as its president for two terms. He also served as State minister for law and labour and was chosen MLC for two terms. in addition to it, he worked to redesign Mangaluru since the early 60s, Mr. Lobo said.
