Mangalore : In a major breakthrough in the investigations into the shoot-out reported from Ballalbagh in the city wherein a businessman was targeted, the Barke police have arrested six persons including two prime accused in the case, on August 6, Tuesday.
The arrested are Deekshit Poojary alias Deekshu (25) of Maroli, Litesh (20) of Soorinje, Satish alias Sachu (28) of Soorinje Katipalla, Padmaraj alias Paddu (29) of Bejai, Keshava Someshwar alias Choni (23) of Ullal and Anil (30) from Pumpwell. The first two are said to be the main accused in the case who were responsible for firing at the businessman Vijayendra Bhat, If Deekshith had fired at Vijayendra Bhat, Litesh was riding the bike. The other four had assisted them in executing the plot.
The incident was reported on the evening of August 2 when Vijayendra Bhat, the owner of Sudhindra Mill, Sudhindra Market and Tom&Chilly Restaurant was on way home in his Scorpio Car. He however escaped unhurt as he had rushed out of his car and hid in a nearby hotel. The assailants had later fled the scene.
Sources said the arrested persons have divulged during interrogations that they had fired at the businessman at the behest of underworld don Vicky Shetty and also that Vijayendra Bhat had extended financial assistance to the accused in the Bejai Raja murder case.
Investigations are underway.
