Baliga murder case: Prof Nayak demands special task force to trace masterminds

Mangaluru: Prime accused in RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case, Naresh Shenoy was nabbed two months ago and since then there has been no development in the case.

Raking this issue, rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak has demanded formation of a special task force to trace the mastermind behind Baliga murder case.

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Prof Nayak said that Baliga was hacked to death on March 21, near his house at Kodialbail and after three months, prime accused Naresh Shenoy was arrested. Now, two months have passed since the arrest and judicial custody of the prime accused and there seems to be no progress in the case.

He said that the remaining hands that have got scot-free in the case can be brought to book if Narco-analysis of the prime accused is conducted and that action must be taken against all those people who helped prime accused Naresh Shenoy remain in hiding for three months.

Further alleging that one Nandakumar Prabhu had killed Mahesh Prabhu in October 2012, Prof Nayak said that when the case came up for hearing more than a dozen witnesses in the case had turned hostile. Prof Nayak said that Naresh Shenoy and Manju, another accused in Baliga murder case had played behind the scenes to scuttle the case. It was later seen that the accused in this case was employed by Naresh Shenoy.
