Mangalore : Various Dalit organizations have urged for a high level probe into the recent tragedy at Thottilaguri in Bajpe wherein four persons died after a compound wall came crashing down on two houses.
Addressing press persons on June 20, Thursday, District Convenor of Dalita Abhivridhi Vedike Ashok Konchady also urged the government to increase the compensation provided to the next of kin of the deceased  from Rs 1.5 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs. He said government jobs should also be provided to the members of the affected families.

Ashok further warned that the Dalit organizations would unitedly stage protest if the demands are not fulfilled.

He alleged  that illegal commercial complexes have come up in the colony by encroaching lands of Dalits and urged for stern action against the encroachers. Though he welcomed the administration decision to construct houses to the affected families at Porkody, Ashok at the same time urged that the encroachers should face action.
