Bahubali’s Mahamastakabhisheka at Dharmastala between Feb 9 and 18

Dharmastala: The fourth Mahamastakabhisheka of 39-foot-tall Bahubali at Dharmastala will be held from February 9 to 18 and it will be inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on February 9.

Speaking to reporters at Dharmastala, Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade on Tuesday, January 29 informed that Shree Vishwesha Teertha Swami of Pejawar Matt will bless on the occasion and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda will release a souvenir. The religious rituals of Mahamastakabhisheka will be held in the presence of Vardhamana Sagar Munimaharaj and Pushpadanta Sagar Munimaharaj under the guidance of Charukeerthi Bhattaraka of Shravanabelagola. During the nine days programme, there will be both religious and cultural programmes”, he said.

Life of Bahubali in laser show

Heggade informed that there will be laser show during all days of Mahamastakabhisheka, wherein the life of Bahubali will be shown. The 15 minutes laser show will be the main attraction of the programme this time, he informed.

‘Santa Sammelana’ to be inaugurated by Deve Gowda

A day before Mahamastakabhisheka programme, there will be a conference of pontiffs on January 8, wherein over 100 pontiffs from different parts of the country will participate. The conference will be inaugurated by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda. Pontiff of Shravanabelagola Charukeerthi Bhattaraka will bless on the occasion and Lalithakeerthi Bhattaraka of Danashale Karkala will preside over the programme.

State government to release Rs 2 Crore

Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader informed that Rs 2 Crore will be released through the Tourism Department in order to beautify the temple Town Dharmastala. The administration has approved the same and it will be utilised for all necessary arrangements and infrastructure, he informed.

As the Gomateshwara was installed at Ratnagiri in Dharmastala in the year 1975, it is the fourth Mahamastakabhisheka. The previous Mahamastakabhishekas were held in 1982, 1995 and 2007.

Chief convener D Surendra Kumar, Convener D Harshendra Kumar among others were present.
