Mangaluru: B.P. Dinesh Kumar, IPS has taken charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime. He comes in place of incumbent DCP Vinay Gaonkar. 

Hailing from Kodagu, Dinesh is a postgraduate from Mangalore University.

During his service, he has been posted in Udupi, Byndoor, Chikkamagaluru, Madikeri, Mudigere, and Manipal among others. 

He has served in Lokayukta team, and Anti-naxal Squad among others.
