Mangaluru: The pioneer of Land Reforms Act in the state, B A Moideen was honoured for his work in implementing the act in the state during the tenure of former Chief Minister, Devraj Urs. The honouring ceremony took place in the afternoon at the Town Hall with great pomp on Thursday, September 15.
Various local bands welcomed the guests on to the stage and Ivan D’souza, state legislator and incharge of the event welcomed all the guests with a pot of flowering plant each in honour of B A Moideen. The hall was packed with almost all the seats occupied and 45 guests were present on the stage.
The senior Congress leader has been a guiding light to many of the workers here as well as the other leaders. Ramesh Kumar, Health and Family Welfare minister and Dinesh Ameen Mattu, media advisor to Siddaramaiah spoke about B A Moideen to be their guru as he helped them out with advice and guidance.
“For me, Moideen sir has always been a guru than a friend or a leader. His sane advice has given me much insight into various aspects of life. There were times when I cleared doubts and received solutions. His work in the field too has given me a push and motivation”, said Mattu.
B A Moideen was handed over a framed letter in appreciation and the ‘Devraj Urs Award’ for his effort in jointly introducing the Land Reforms Act while Pradeep Kumar Kalkura read the letter. Ramanath Rai, District In-charge minister spoke about how Moideen had got the reforms act into place. He even mentioned about how hard it was to get it done.
Ivan D’souza had made a committee for the event earlier from which the honouring ceremony was organized today. “B A Mohideen is to be felicitated for his relentless work with regard to the passing of the land reforms act. His contribution to the field of effective legislation has been highly commendable and the people benefitted by his work are many. Thus, we thought it would be best to confer him with a prestigious honour to acknowledge his contribution to the state”, said Ivan D’souza, President of ‘B A Mohideen Paura Sanmaana Samithi’ in a press meet conducted on an earlier date.
