Auto drivers stage protest against Rifayi killing

Mangalore: The CITU along with the Dakshina Kannada District Committee of Federation of Karnataka Auto rickshaw Drivers Union staged a demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mangalore on Wednesday on August 13.

The protestors condemned the brutal murder of auto driver Muhammad Rifayi, who was found dead  on Sunday.

Prior to the demonstration, the Union members took out a rally from Pumpwell circle to State Bank, after which the State President of Democratic Youth Federation of India Muneer Katipalla addressed the members during the protest.

He said that the district police have failed to take any action against the culprits involved in the revenge killings. Moreover he alleged that the inefficiency of the police had led to such crimes. He also criticized the Ministers of Dakshina Kannada for their apathy towards such cases.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, L T Suvarna, Lingappa Nanthur, Krishnappa Gowda, Yoginder, Sanjeeva, Sulaiman and others were present.
