Belthangadi: An auto rickshaw driver was nabbed by the police after his attempt to rape a school girl failed due to her presence of mind. The girl immediately raised an alarm foiling the culprit’s bid.

Auto driver Umesh (26), a resident of Nidle was booked under POCSO Act by Dharmasthala police.

He attempted to rape the girl when she was on her way back from school. In retaliation, the girl screamed and drew the attention of people around.

A scared driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the spot. A case was registered against him in Dharmasthala police station. Police succeeded in nabbing the accused and later booked him under POCSO Act.
