Moodbidri: Auto Cross 15, jointly organized by Tribhuvan Automobile Sports Club (TASC), Bedra Adventure Club (BAC) Moodbidri, JCI Moodbidri and Indian Motor Sports Club (IMSC), at the Pancharatna grounds Moodbidri completed two days of thrilling mortor racing events and exposition of modern cars-bikes stunts here on Sunday April 5.

It was a day when the actual auto cross was held, the first day being reserved for the auto expo,  bike stunts and a display of the latest super bikes.

Auto cross events were held across many categories – 2 stroke 4 stroke scooters and bikes, Bike ride and in the car division, dirt track racing in 800 cc, 1300 CC, 1400 CC and local class categories. Vehicles and participants came from across Karnataka, mainly from Bengaluru, Kodagu, and Mysuru. There were more than 60 participants in the bike divison while in the car division more than 100 participated with great verve and skill.

For localites there was a separate race as they could not compete with the progfessionals. Under expert class division, race was held for those professional riders.

There was also a separate race for bullet bike lovers and one exclusively for women in the car category in which reality show actress Harshitha took part.

Tribhavan automotive sports club organizing committee Abhijeet, Kuldip chowta, Pratap Kumar, Jaycee President Dhirendra, Hamid and Bedra adventure club’s Akshay K. Jain and Chengappa A D were present.

At the valedictory, Ashwin Nayak, of the Indian motor sports club, urged the public to try their hand at driving on these tracks and he advised the public, that instead of trying their hand at stunts on the roads, “this is the prime place for displaying such skills as this opportunity is provided with all safety precautions”.

K. V. Aravind, the national champion who was also present for the sports meet, said that with the barricades in place, the spectators got an opportunity to watch the sport at close quarters. He said, “Here the track was challenging and thrilling. Compared to other places where this sport is held, this autocross was very good and the organizers have done a great job and that is why riders have participated enthusiastically”.
